Known for years for her silk-screened cards and limited edition silkscreened prints, Ellen now concentrates solely on painting in watercolor, enjoying the flexibility and subtleness this medium allows her to interpret the beauty around her. She likes to work outdoors, preferring to start a painting on location in order to absorb and get a sense of the feeling and atmosphere of what it is about a place that speaks to her.
Her paintings have been shown recently at Northeast Harbor Library; the Southwest Harbor Library; Gallery at Frenchman’s Bay, Somesville; Salty Dog Gallery, Southwest Harbor; Asticou Connection, Town Hill; Coastal Computers, Somesville, Shaw Gallery, Northeast Harbor; Artemis Gallery, Northest Harbor and in many art shows.
She currently exhibits at Star Gallery, Northeast Harbor and also displays her work in her studio at 44 Summit Road, Northeast Harbor.
While she majored in Art History at Smith College, she took many courses in studio art such as painting, drawing and printmaking. Since then she has taken many painting classes and participated in several workshops, always ready to learning more.
